The New ComponentOne
Rick Williamson, General Manager
A few weeks ago we shared with you that ComponentOne had been acquired by GrapeCity. The outpouring of support and congratulatory feedback we received from both customers and partners has been greatly appreciated. The goal of this issue is to better acquaint you with the dynamics of the new ComponentOne, ranging from our products to our employees.
|
High expectations are the key to our mutual success and we diligently work towards exceeding yours so you may exceed those of your superiors and colleagues.
There is a Japanese saying, "Shobai wa ushi no shidare" which translates to, "Business is like the froth from an Ox's mouth," meaning it is slow and the result of patience and hard labor. For close to 30 years, GrapeCity and ComponentOne have understood this principal and it is evident in the products we deliver to you today, which range from the newest emerging technologies to those that are more mature like our VB6 components. Both Sunny Wong, General Manager, and myself look forward to expanding the ComponentOne reach with more products, support, and resources. This time of change is exciting for us, as we hope it'll be for you. Visit the company website for more information on the acquisition. Stay tuned for website updates, more videos, more controls, and more support. The ComponentOne community is growing, join us today.

Tech Connection Live: Sessions On Demand
|
If you missed our May 18th Tech Connection Live event at the Microsoft Technology Center: Minneapolis campus, no worries. Two of the six sessions are provided below. More will be in the next ComponentOne Tech Connection issue. Enjoy, and we hope to see you at our next event! |
- Practical MVVM by Joel Cochran - This talk provides an introduction to MVVM using "The Practical MVVM Manifesto", a set of guidelines for architecting with MVVM. Following this discussion we will walk through a sample implementation in XAML. Primary topics of discussion in this session include ViewModel to View relationships, ViewModel design patterns, Binding strategies, and Commands.
- Branches and Merges are Bears, Oh My! by Craig Berntson - One of the most important tools you have is a Version Control System (VCS). But while it can be very useful, it can also be very frustrating. It's common to branch your code, but when it comes time to merge, it can be a big problem. In this session, you will learn concepts to avoid branching in the first place and when branching makes sense. Whether you use a centralized or distributed VCS, you'll see how to apply practices that can make a big impact in managing your VCS.
