New Year, New Product Lines
Gustavo Eydelsteyn, Co-founder
Since welcoming in the New Year, we've taken large strides at ComponentOne to bring you two new CTPs (Community Technology Preview):
ComponentOne Studio for iPhone CTP and ComponentOne WebParts for SharePoint CTP. Some of you may already know about our Studio for iPhone suite of ASP.NET controls since we have discussed them in previous Studio Tech Connections.
To recap, Studio for iPhone controls
|
allow web developers to design websites that mimic the look and feel of the iPhone and iPod Touch interfaces without the need to learn a new technology. Studio for iPhone controls are built on the ASP.NET Framework and are optimized for viewing in Mobile Safari or Safari for the PC or Mac. Just after the New Year, the CTP was made available to download.
Today I am just as pleased to announce to you our new web parts for Microsoft SharePoint: ComponentOne WebParts for SharePoint. The first version includes three web parts, each sold separately: DataGrid, Chart, and Maps. All powered by Silverlight, these web parts enable you to deliver rich, compelling SharePoint sites without writing a line of code. They come with many powerful, built-in features to make exploring and navigating data, creating dynamic data visualization, and rich, deep-zoom mapping a breeze.
You can find all download links enclosed in this issue of Studio Tech Connection. I encourage you to sign-up for the CTP program, download the bits, and begin using them today.

Always Working For You: ComponentOne Preview for WinForms
Steve Basl, Technical Engagement Engineer
Deep in the ComponentOne Laboratories, our developers have been envisioning new and improved ideas to enhance our current controls.
This is no different with ComponentOne Preview for WinForms. A major enhancement has been made to Preview for WinForms: forms can now
be exported to PDF Acroforms.
|
In previous versions of Preview for WinForms, RenderInput controls were exported to PDF simply as images,
whereas now they are exported to PDF as form fields. With you - the developer - in mind, ComponentOne has included four supported
controls: Text, RadioButton, ComboBox, and CheckBox.
To demonstrate this feature, this article takes you through the steps of creating an employee information form. These forms are extremely useful
as they are applicable in every department. Creating the forms with Preview for WinForms is a breeze.
